Weekend Happening

Posted by hteodosio on Jun-30-2008

This past few days was a turmoil as one incident after another came. As you recall International Typhoon “Feng Shen” to our country it was called Typhoon Frank, swept across our country and particularly the city I’m living at and created havoc and anguished among the residents of “Iloilo City”. The city was in shock as most residents never experience this “Frank” to be the worst Typhoon this past few years, the streets flooded, sewer system got clogged up and went out to the streets. Even houses who have 2nd level was not safe as some of it even have to scramble to their rooftops to be safe. Typhoon Frank started Saturday, June 21, 2008 and lasted overnight the impact of the typhoon came around 10 am to some parts of the province and the high of the flood came around 2 pm in the afternoon as resident hastily search for safe places inside their homes as the water level drastically arises.

As “Frank” subsided after 2 days, I thought our problems were done for as due to Franks action we had to stay at a hotel for almost a week but that is not yet the worst of all, along with my grandmother we occupied two rooms at the hotel, during the weekdays, my grandmother was active and happily drinking her milk but it was Wednesday that she passed away around 4:48 pm as declared by the physicians and medical staff. Diagnosed to have suffered from “stroke” and “low blood pressure” my grandmother’s wake was held at a nearby funeral where relatives and friends came to visit her. I stayed at the funeral chapel for two nights barely giving my self a decent sleep.

We have to travel 138 kilometers outside of the city for the burial of my grandmother which was held Sunday, June 29, 2008.

Also the storm wreck havoc at our resort, uprooting large trees around the way, and within the resort itself, roofs torn and flew away, houses crumble and even glasses got broken, what surprised me their is a coconut tree uprooted and hanging over the roof of the staff quarters.

*blog was made Saturday, June 28, 2008… Pictures to be uploaded soon

What had transpired this past few days

Posted by hteodosio on Jun-24-2008

It took me some time get me back blogging again, lately I was stress out due to unforeseen factors that has come my way.

Last Saturday my baby boy was admitted to the Hospital and was diagnosed to have a viral infection, he wasn’t able to drink his milk and when he does he kept vomiting it. I’m glad he is doing well right now thanks to her mom and their family for the help.
Aside from my baby being admitted in the hospital, my country especially my hometown was hit by a storm at that exact day also, I dropped my mom at a nearby mall so she could buy her medicines and other needs which are a necessity and preparation for the storm. As we were about to leave the mall the guard on duty at that mall told us that we couldn’t leave the premises because the water level rose up dramatically and we were stranded at the mall. It was good that I had to fetch the car first as I was able to get it running and move it to higher ground before the flood could do any damage to the car as the water is already touching the underside of the car and I notice that one passenger vehicle was already submerge due to the flood which almost covered the back parking area of the mall.
My mom and I had to stay for 1 whole day at the mall and worry about the house as my father told us that we should just stay where we are as the water level has risen and the water current is strong that it swept most of the cars along side the road.
We waited till the next day to be sure the flood have subside.. but the damage to our home was a shock to us, most of the electrical equipment was a total wreck, my younger brother told me that the fridge was floating, basically you can say it like you have to redecorate your home from scratch and also my grandmother nearly drown because of the flood.
We have to evacuate since our home is not suitable for living or sleeping at the moment.
Hopefully we could take it one step at a time to settle back in.

For now we are staying at the hotel since the city is declared state of calamity.

If you would like to know what has happened in my city try to do a search on “Iloilo Flood” or “typhoon frank” either by Yahoo or Google

American singging a song from Orient Pearl

Posted by hteodosio on Jun-19-2008

Who ever said Americans can’t say fluent tagalog or even sing any tagalog song, But guess what this vid really made my jaw drop! and look at that t-shirt his wearing.

Yesterday our beloved President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo signed Republic Act 9504 which exempts minimum wage earners from taxes.

This law targets financial relief to taxpayers in cognizance by the government of the hard times brought by multiple factors, with the examples of  the current rice crisis, oil price hikes and the heightening inflationary pressure on commodities of all kinds and to help reduce the wide tax gap in the taxation of self-employed and professionals.

This Law will take affect after 15 days.

A response to my last post

Posted by hteodosio on Jun-17-2008

This is a response to one of my post “A friend’s Reaction to a Friend’s Dilemma“. This is the info I got from the other party.

There was no verbal agreement that the company has agreed to my friend’s situation about working less hours due to his option to study, also my friend’s client will not be paying for the number of hours loss due to this situation.

And also the company itself never informed that he (my friend) should file a resignation letter, also the company itself are using their company’s handbook as the basis of policy and rules for this kinds of situation.

Also as I was informed, the agent itself was the one to open this situation to his company about his dillema and the company open their minds for possible outlook or ways to make this situation suitable for both parties involved.
